Rahul Anand

Welcome to my home page.

I am a PhD. candidate in Strategy and Business Policy department at HEC Paris.

My research interests revolve around corporate strategy and corporate governance. My dissertation comprises of three chapters that focus on different issues related to divestitures and divestitures-diversification link as well as the impact of divestitures on firm performance and shareholder value. I specifically focus on strategies concerning the sale of assets and business units as well as exiting geographic markets via divestitures.

The primary research setting for all three chapters of my dissertation is a panel data set of listed firms in Europe. I combine the secondary panel data with a unique hand-collected data on divestiture deals using annual reports as well as press release announcements.

In another closely related research stream, I study the impact of corporate governance on firm’s corporate strategy as well as the effect of board diversity on firm performance and growth.

Prior to my doctoral studies, I have worked in various sectors ranging from IT, consulting to non-profit and manufacturing. I have an undergraduate degree in Engineering from Delhi University and an MBA from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).

Aside from work, I like to read and write about small, innovative social enterprises and assist, Bloodaid ,a volunteer-driven initiative that I co-founded in 2010.
